In the Dust of Industry BHS

On the 20th of May  I had the opportunity to shoot Camilla Dacrema, probably the best model with whom I ever worked, professional, creative, funny and of course stunning.

With styling by Fashion Designer Elga Jazz and MUA Valentina dell’Omo, I spent the whole day shooting in Milan. First in an old Tram deposit in Milan and then in the Area of Palestro, near “Villa Reale”.

Thanks also to the work of my assistant Valeria Murru, the day was very  positive and very satisfactory. Best Team Work ever I might say.

Here are some photos from the backstage.

Keep taking Photos, always.

The first thing I noticed when I started doing photography is after the first experiments I started taking less and lesser pictures because I would felt like wasting the power of my DSLR for a random shot.

I gradually forgot the main reason I started photography, for the sake of taking pictures, stopping moments, capturing feelings and share them with others.

All my photos became gradually  the result of  calculations, precision, shot only if I thought the pictures would come out ok, with correct exposure, or exactly how I wanted it to come out, getting frustrated if the result wasn’t satisfactory…

When I realized this I immediately looked for a good point and shoot camera( Canon S90 ) to bring always with me and with which I wouldn’t feel like wasting the snaps.

But most important, as photographer Chase Jarvis says:

“The best Camera is the one that’s with you”

And what is the camera that I have always with me?

My iPhone! It’s always with me, and it’s loFi camera can give you great satisfactions if used wisely, plus let’s don’t forget all the apps with it!

Egyptian Desert

With It I never loose the opportunity to capture a moment or a wonderful place.

Shoot everything and everyone, shoot colors, textures, light… expertise and keep practicing your photographer’s eye, look for details, analyze your surroundings, you never know what you could miss…

Don’t think, shoot! Try to stop thinking a moment of Golden Ratio’s or of the Rule of Thirds… Improvise! Even a picture of your keyboard my result interesting.

And if it’s not? Why not try to tweak the picture in Photoshop or with an App? The App Store is full of wonderful photography Apps to enhance everyday pictures and giving them a unique look with no knowledge of photo retouching.

I suggest you to visit iPhoneography.com to keep updated with the most recent and best iPhone photography Apps out there.

So remember:

  • Keep shooting, no matter what camera is with you
  • Analyze your sorroundings
  • Shoot everything and everyone
  • Don’t think, Shoot!
  • Enhance your pictures digitally because it DOES make a difference, some photographers might say it doesn’t.
  • Share, Share, Share. Dont’ care about criticism, it’s never easy to take, but is learning from our mistakes that we grow as photographers. (this rule applies with all aspects of life actually)

If you are interested in my iPhone photography I can invite you to have a look at my iPhone Photo Blog: My Way Out.

In USA I bought myself a new toy, the Canon S90.

I really needed a compact camera with full manual settings and ofter lot’s of research I decided to go with this model ( my alternative would have been the Panasonic Lumix LX3)

Washington D.C.

I am near Washington today, visiting my brother who is living and studying here for a year.

And might I just say: “Whoah, USA!”  each time I visit I always fall in love with America, and Washington D.C. is an amazing city.

This time I even had the opportunity of living the american lifestyle in the suburbs, in Ashburn, a great place where to raise kids and have a family. Next stop NY.
